Sandi Matheson: Our Everyday Hero
An everyday hero tirelessly offers support and dedication to the Child Advocacy Center while demonstrating commitment to the team. As the Director of the Office of Victim/Witness Assistance at the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office since 1987, Sandi Matheson has worked persistently to provide integral support services for victims of crimes throughout the state. She has led the efforts of the Attorney General’s Task Force on Child Abuse since its inception in 1989 and helped to author the 600 page statewide protocols for the investigation and prosecution of child abuse.
Sandi served on the Governor’s Commission of Child Abuse which led to the establishment of the New Hampshire Network of Child Advocacy Centers. She continues to participate on their advisory board. Each year Sandi and her office sponsor the Attorney General’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect annual conference for over 400 professionals involved in child abuse cases. Additionally, she is involved with the annual Tri-State Victim Assistance Academy which offers advocates new tools and knowledge to ensure that victims receive the best services possible.
It is amazing how Sandi finds time in her demanding schedule to serve on the Governor’s Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence, as well as the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Protocol and Conference Committees. She is also the creator of both the Child Fatality and Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committees. If that is not enough to give her purpose, she is currently the Chair of the Attorney General’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, a member of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Advisory Board, on the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Protocol and Conference Committees, and is a partner for the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program, She is the epitome of a “hero,” a person who makes a significant contribution, and for this reason the staff and Board of Directors of the Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County have chosen Sandi Matheson as their everyday hero.
